Gunnedah, an Aboriginal
word meaning place of white stones, has long been Known
for being the centre of a thriving agricultural industry. However,
the region is rapidly developing an olive growing industry, mainly
for the production of olive oil, which looks likely to become the
districts big cash crop. Gunnedah is the birthplace of Dorothea
McKellar, author of the famous poem, My Country.
