WERRIS CREEK
Werris Creek is a railway
town. It was established in the 1870s when labourers arrived to
extend the line and built a settlement of tents and temporary
buildings. In due course, a more permanent town was established.
Activities still centre around the marshalling yards and workshops.
It is also an important base for the transport of wheat, with a large
grain terminal capable of holding more than 150,000 tonnes.
